TESTIMONIALS - Student of the Year |
 |
The following are testimonials about what an MBA has meant for them from outstanding MBA graduates, either shortlisted for this year's MBA Student of the Year competition, or past winners.
Bart Knols - Open University (winner MBA Student of the Year 2007)
My MBA delivered the perfect add-on to my scientific career. Where science is all about yes or no, plus or minus, management is this grey zone I was completely unaware of. It handed me the tools to analyse and understand the people and organisations I work with much better, with obvious successes. It delivered the knowledge to make more informed strategic decisions, besides being able to rapidly expand the scale and scope of what I am doing today. The MBA opened doors I wasn't aware existed...
Bjorn Dudok van Heel - RSM Erasmus (finalist MBA Student of the Year 2007)
Doing an MBA at the RSM changed my life completely. The multicultural diversity in combination with a broad focus on business and close relationship with the different professors, made it possible to gain maximum benefit from the programme. Practical application of the studied theory, by means of creating an NGO based on core business principles, proved the fact that the theory really works! In short: taking an MBA was one of the best choices of my life!
Amiee Abbott Cocco - IE (finalist MBA Student of the Year 2007)
Pursuing an MBA has been a worthwhile sacrifice, and one of the most enriching experiences in terms of personal growth. It has exposed me to new people, from so many different backgrounds and cultures, that I feel I’m continuously learning from them, but at the same time, they learn from me personally as well as from where I come from.
Academically speaking, the MBA represents for me a new way of learning, more self managed and customizable. An MBA provides interesting tools that can be applied in all sorts of situations and that can help in any kind of business.
The MBA is not just about expanding your hard skills, it is about developing and strengthening your soft skills, encouraging long-term interpersonal relations, which are equally or more important; personally, I have grown more independent, confident and proactive. One of the most important challenges that I faced was trying to balance my MBA life with my personal life, coping with the fact of being away from my family, and I believe I have accomplished it.
Irina Nedashkovskaya - SDA Bocconi (short listed candidate for MBA Student of the Year 2007)
The MBA at SDA Bocconi has brought me to Europe from the United States, drastically changing my life through a completely new network of friends, a new culture, and new ambitions. The MBA has altered my career path in terms of industry and geography. Most importantly it boosted my confidence in what I can achieve and gave me the tools to achieve it. Besides better repositioning myself on the job market, the MBA has proved a perfect opportunity to deeply reflect on my life goals and to try different roles, putting on marketing, financial, operational or entrepreneurial hats.
Stefan Ludgate - Insead (short listed candidate for MBA Student of the Year 2007)
Coming to INSEAD to do my MBA has been a very worthwhile experience indeed. Although I have worked for many years in finance - tax and private equity - in London and Germany, and had first hand experience in the running of companies, I was convinced that an MBA here would really broaden my outlook and enrich my understanding of the issues businesses face internationally. I have not been disappointed.
INSEAD places heavy emphasis on sustainability. I have been particularly interested in energy and environmental issues during my time here. It has been especially enlightening to consider the myriad of very real challenges businesses now face given the need to adapt not only to these two important issues, but also all to aspects of running sustainable businesses. The school is also undoubtedly international and the outlook this provides is unparalleled. I now feel far better prepared to provide a real and meaningful contribution to building businesses in the years ahead, and with the support of a great network of like-minded people.
Momtchil Kovatchev – Hult IBS (short listed candidate for MBA Student of the Year 2007)
Change & impact. That is the essence of the Hult MBA experience. It positions you right in the middle of the global events and gives you the tools to change the world. Hult’s over 90% international student body immerses you in a myriad of cultures and learning experiences – before you know it, you have connections with friends and a network of top managers around the globe. The accelerated one year program, taught by world-class faculty, prepares you with hands-on knowledge to tackle even the most difficult of cases.
The MBA was also an invaluable opportunity to pause and reflect on my achievements, enrich my knowledge and leadership skills, and gain exposure to U.S. entrepreneurship and marketing styles. Prior to joining Hult I had the privilege to interact with top-executives and high level government officials, leading multi-million dollar projects and cross-border teams. And still, all this is just a fraction of the global opportunities a top MBA program creates. Before, I was Bulgarian, now I feel more like a true citizen of the world.
Alem Muminovic - Monaco Business School (winner of Student of the Year Award 2006)
The MBA program was a very inspiring, intense and important experience. The program gave me a broad overview of management topics, introducing the tools to understand a fast changing world and myself as a leader in it. It expanded my view on the business and allowed me to change my career direction.
Simon Wright - Nottingham University (finalist MBA Student of the Year 2006)
The MBA in CSR at Nottingham University was simply one of the best year's of my life ... so far ! Not only did I make some great friends and meet some incredible people, the year opened up a whole new realm of learning for me in the areas of corporate responsibility and sustainability, albeit firmly entrenched in the economic and political reality of doing business in the 21st century. As a result, I am now heading up a small sustainability team working for IAG, Australia's largest general insurer addressing issues around climate change and risk reduction. This would have been unimaginable two years ago.
