ACCREDITATION SERVICE

Accreditation Service

As an industry standard-bearer, we pride ourselves on our independence and integrity in assessing the quality of postgraduate general management programmes. Because we focus in detail on the quality of the programme and not the awarding institution per se, our accreditation provides a guarantee of the quality of programmes that bear our kite-mark.

At the Association of MBAs, we believe that programmes should be of the highest quality, and relevant to the dynamic world of business. They should therefore reflect changing trends and innovation in postgraduate management education. Our accreditation process, and the criteria under which programmes are judged, reflects this commitment to fostering innovation.

Our accreditation is international in scope. The Association’s International Accreditation Advisory Board (IAAB), which drafts and constantly monitors the accreditation criteria, is drawn from senior academics at top educational institutions around the world. As such, the accreditation criteria are regarded as the international standard for management education.

We currently accredit the MBA portfolios of over 140 business schools, and we also accredit DBA and MBM programmes worldwide. We seek to develop new ideas on best practice to improve the global standard of postgraduate management education, rather than exporting one particular system of management education. Our criteria represent international standards that can also be applied in the context of national and regional markets.

A major part of our commitment to innovation and the expression of new ideas is the developmental nature of our accreditation service. Even accredited programmes should seek to evolve, improve, and foster innovation. The process of accreditation often helps institutions realise potential shortcomings in their programmes, while the Association’s comprehensive and consultative report outlines recommendations for improving provision in the future.
